Continue to point out sh!t that looks like shenanigans. Like 3 sets of the same person winning a promo twice in a row visible on the promo history page at the same time - or the same 4 people winning a promo in the same order twice in a row visible on the promo history page at the same time. Everybody should do that about everything - but should remember that it's not proof of any ACTUAL shenanigans.
Making accusations without proof is no only f***ed up, it can be illegal (see slander or libel). Why does it always have to be, "this looks odd, therefore there's a conspiracy", why can't it just stop at "this looks odd".
Also...remember...calling someone stupid for asking questions can make it look like you're either hiding something or a kiss-a$$ sheep.
Not sayin', just sayin'.

This might be skirting the edge...and I know it's not quite this simple...but what about something like this:
Provide a service where I can get blink credit with a GTC I am responsible for going to Markee Dragon and buying a GTC
I submit the GTC to you
You verify the GTC is good (convert to PLEX or whatever)
You credit my Blink account - some predetermined amount (buy out price of 2 PLEX) - or a % of Jita price or whatever

You even get free blink credit for doing so. The only mechanical difference to your imaginary system and the system existent today is, that you actually put the GTC Code into EVE, rightclicl the item u just created, click sell, send money to somer.

First, rest assured you're not the only one who feels things are suspicious - but you hit the nail on the head with what I've quoted above. That's the problem with anything just suspicious - you can only say that it's suspicious - you can't jump to accusations, not only because it's against the law, but because somehow most humans seem conditioned to respond in a negative way to "crazy conspiracy theorists".
As an example, go do a little research on Boeing 757-223s and plane crashes - and then look at the pictures of what happened on that tragic day at the pentagon. Problem is - none of that is proof of any wrong doing - and you definitely can't go accusing anyone of anything. Now, go show what you've found to your parents, grandparents, teachers, co-workers, etc. It won't go over well.
My only point is - while I fully support people speaking up when they see suspicious stuff - 99.9999% of the time, it will be to no avail - either it's just coincidentally suspicious and there was actually no wrong doing (which is the case more often than not), OR there actually IS something but there's no way to prove it so you just get branded a paranoid a$$h013.
In either case, my advice: base your own actions on your observations, and let the rest of us do the same. If you think blink is ripping you off, stop giving them money.

If you buy all the tickets in a blink, you'll win 1 out of every 1 (100%) - that's not the same as winning as many promos in a day as I've won in 3 years - you only get one ticket in a promo. |

Allow me to translate: I'm speaking french to further obfuscate my intentions. I've been playing blink for a year and I've lost around 95 billion isk (or about 158 PLEX). This makes me feel....bad. Based on my losses alone, I think blink can probably afford the promos, bonuses, and whatnot they occasionally bestow upon their members. Be careful though, the more addicted you get, the more blink will...pluck you. Hugs and kisses! |

Heh...it's like being back in grade school.
Flipping a coin 9 times has 2^9 (512) possible outcomes. Not one of those is more probable than another.
TTTTTTTTT is just as likely as HTHHTTHHT - it really, really is. But HTHHTTHHT doesn't mean just some random mix - it's one of the 512 distinct possible outcomes.
You could just as easily claim the following nonsense:
- My result was HTHHTTHHT.
- There's only a 1/512 chance that that outcome could happen.
- Therefore, I can be some made up percent sure the coin isn't fair.

CCP don't like the kind of "RMT" that takes money out of their pockets, they aren't against people (especially themselves) legally earning money.
- Pay some random guy REAL MONEY for isk earned in game = BAD (NO money for CCP ).
- Pay CCP REAL MONEY for a PLEX, sell on market for isk = GOOD (YES money for CCP ).
CCP allow 3rd parties to sell GTC. While CCP CAN require them to fix prices, they can't prevent them from having their own affiliate programs.
Now, consider:
- The more GTC the 3rd party sells, the more money in CCP's pockets (money for CCP = GOOD , remember?).
- Blink helps a legal 3rd party to legally sell MORE GTC (more money for CCP = MORE GOOD , see above).
My point is, if there's something going on where Blink are going to get shut down, it's not that. |

So in part 1, we learned that there are 512 different possible outcomes for flipping 9 coins (HHHHHHHHH, HHHHHHHHT, HHHHHHHTH, and so on).
Now, for part 2. Flipping a coin 9 times, and not caring about order but only about the number of H and the number of T, there are 10 possible outcomes - and they have different probabilities. The brute force way to figure these out would be to come up with the 512 possible outcomes described above, and then for each one, count the H and T, and put a tick next to the corresponding outcome below. For example, TTTTTTTTT = 0H, 9T; TTTTTTTTH = 1H, 8T; TTTTTTTHT = 1H, 8T, and so on.
Comes out like this:
9H, 0T = 1; 8H, 1T = 9; 7H, 2T = 36; 6H, 3T = 84; 5H, 4T = 126; 4H, 5T = 126; 3H, 6T = 84; 2H, 7T = 36; 1H, 8T = 9; 0H, 9T = 1 (add those up, there are 512)
So, that can be confusing - but remember, nobody plays like that - you play 2 out of 3, you call each flip - not "two heads and a tails".

For those of you who question fairness (or question people who have questions about fairness), here's a fun experiment:
- For one month, 3 times a day, stop in at the promo blinks page (http://cogdev.net/blink/?act=show_promos)
- Highlight / Select the 50 promo results displayed (or only those that are new since your last visit)
- Copy (ctrl + c)
- Paste (ctrl + v) into notepad first (plain text editor) <-- this part is important
- Now copy that, and paste into a spreadsheet where you're keeping your results.
- Optionally take screenshots to paste together images later
- At the end of the month, sort by user, then by date (at the same time)
It did not take a whole month for me. I found what I was looking for in about 3 weeks. Not "proof" of anything, mind you, but enough to trip my own personal "common sense" alarms.
Want to make sure I'm being clear here - this fun experiment is meant to provide individuals with results on which they can make their own decisions - everyone's "common sense" alarm has a different threshold. |
